After Declaring Public Holiday, Now They Tell You They Owe You Nothing- Rufai Oseni mocks Wike

A public figure named Rufai Oseni, who works as a presenter and speaker on Arise TV, has made a sarcastic comment on Twitter about the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike. The governor recently declared a public holiday in honour of the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was invited to commission a project in the state.

Oseni mocked the governor's gesture, suggesting that it was pointless since Tinubu had already indicated that he did not owe Wike anything.

Wike had asked Tinubu to refund money spent on a federal road project in the state once he takes office on May 29. However, Tinubu rejected the demand, arguing that the project was for the benefit of the people of the state, who were using and enjoying it. When commissioning the project, Tinubu thanked Wike for the warm reception but made it clear that he had no intention of repaying any money to the governor.

Oseni's tweet was likely prompted by the exchange between Tinubu and Wike, which he may have watched on live television. In his tweet, he likened Wike's situation to being "friend-zoned" by a romantic interest. The implication was that the governor had gone out of his way to please Tinubu but had received nothing in return, similar to someone who is attracted to another person but is rejected and relegated to the friend zone.
