4 Infections That Can Lead To Female Infertility And How To Prevent Them

After I made a little research, I discovered that some infections can lead to infertility both in males and females. However, in this article, I will be talking about one major reason for infertility in men and how to prevent it.

The cause of infertility in females can be difficult to diagnose. Although, there are many treatments, depending on the infertility cause. Regardless, many infertile couples will go on to conceive a child without treatment.

However, here are some infections that can lead to female infertility.

1. Pelvic inflammatory disease.

Studies have shown that this is an infection of the uterus and fallopian tubes due to chlamydia, gonorrhea, or other sexually transmitted infections.

2. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Do you know that polycystic ovary syndrome causes a hormone imbalance, which affects ovulation? PCOS is associated with insulin resistance and obesity, abnormal hair growth on the face or body, and acne. It is one of the most common causes of female infertility.

3. Excessive prolactin.

Sometimes, the pituitary gland can cause excess production of prolactin which can reduce estrogen production and can cause infertility. This can also be caused by medications you are taking for another condition.

4. Endometriosis

Endometriosis occurs when tissue that typically grows in the uterus implants and grows in other places. This extra tissue growth and the surgical removal of it can cause scarring, which can block fallopian tubes and keep an egg and sperm from uniting.
