5 Things You Should Avoid During Pregnancy

When you're pregnant, everything that consume gets shared with your developing baby. Even though some types of foods and even some types of food poisoning may not harm you, they may hurt the baby in your womb.

To avoid food poisoning, be careful not to eat any food left out of the refrigerator for more than two hours (or more than one hour in hot weather).

Furthermore, there are a lot of things you shouldn’t do while pregnant apart from food. These things are the physical activities you carryout daily.

Avoid doing these things if you are pregnant.

1. Don't eat raw meat

Women who eat raw or undercooked meat during pregnancy are at the rims of contracting listeriosis and toxoplasmosis, which can cause serious and life-damaging illnesses. These illnesses can cause serious birth defects and miscarriage. Please whenever you are pregnant ensure you cook your meat before eating.

2. Don't drink alcohol

According to Centre for Disease Control no amount of alcohol is safe while you are pregnant. Also, there is no time during pregnancy when digesting alcohol does not carry risk. Drinking alcohol during pregnancy can cause miscarriage, stillbirth and a range of behavioral and intellectual disabilities known as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs).

3. Don't smoke

The Centre for Disease Control also revealed that pregnant women who smoke are more at risk of having miscarriage, also the baby in their womb may suffer birth defects, such as a cleft lip or cleft palate, premature birth, low birth weights, disabilities and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

4. Don't lift heavy objects

Pregnant women are by no means less powerful to lift up things, but know that a baby is developing in your womb. During this period it’s not good to overexert yourself.

You can still pick things up, but make sure to bend at your knees, not your hips, and leave the heaviest lifting to your husband, family members, neighbors or anybody around.

5. Don't take drugs

Cocaine, cannabis, tramadol are not good for you during pregnancy. If you are taking illegal drugs it is really advisable to meet your doctor. When you are sick they test you and then give you the right care and support during your pregnancy. By doing this your baby will be safe from the danger of birth defect.

All women should kindly note these things so as to prevent loss of pregnancy.
