Need A Security Dog? Here Are Five Popular Breeds To Consider

Dogs are one of the commonest domestic animals you can think of. A number of people have dogs in their homes for various reasons, which include, but not limited to security, as dogs also serve as pets.

With the recent happenings in the country, there's a constant need for personal security. You could employ human guards to protect you and your property, but if for personal reasons you prefer dogs for that purpose, it's still a great idea.

So if you are in need of a security dog, I would recommend these five breeds:

1. Rottweiler

Rottweilers are among the commonest dogs you can find in Nigeria. They are usually very intelligent animals and loyal to their owners. They growl when they see an unfamiliar face approaching, and are ready to attack. And also their scary appearance often keeps strangers away. Rottweilers are also good in protecting cows, in case you are a cow farmer.

2. Caucasian Shepherd

This dog breed is also quite common here in Nigeria. Possessing an intimidating look, it is always on the lookout for strangers, and its bark can be very loud and fierce.

Caucasian Shepherds can be very aggressive, so you have to keep your eyes on them when your kids are around, because they could cause harm to them. They are good in protecting farm animals from attacks by wild animals.

3. Tibetan Mastiff

These dogs are not usually as fierce as the Caucasian Shepherds, but they also serve very useful security purposes. They can be used to safeguard your property as well as livestock, as they are very watchful animals.

4. Cane Corso

These dogs can be very pleasant and friendly with you the owner, but they do not tolerate nonsense from strangers. They are very useful in safeguarding property as they are always on the lookout.

5. Boerboel

These breeds of dogs usually have a large size, and are also strong and muscular. They have good athleticism and are usually trained to protect one's home from intruders.

Boerboels are also believed to be able to fight off lions as they are really quite aggressive, but the owner needs to have some experience to be able to handle such dogs.

There you have it. So you should consider any of these five dog breeds if you are in need of a guard or security dog.
