There are several breeds of exotic dogs all over the world. Among these species are the Rottweiler and German Shepherd. While these two dogs are quite similar in multiple areas, there seem to arise an argument on which of the two dogs one would prefer as a police man/woman and why?
Rottweilers and German Shepherds are both powerful dogs with an innate strength and ability to defend their owners. However, strength is simply not everything required when it comes to police business.
In my opinion, I think police job is probably the most tasking out there: chasing thieves and lawbreakers, handling strenuous cases that require physical strength, expending energy on a consistent basis, etc.
As a result, there is a need for an intelligent dog that knows exactly what to do and ease the work. This is where a German Shepherd comes in handy.
Rottweilers, although more physically built for strenous work - because of it's muscles, lack the sort of intelligence that is suitable for a police dog. They are more inclined to protecting their owners than anything else. The core values of a rottweilers is 'absolute loyalty'.
During a chase down of an offender, the interest of a rottweiler is on protecting it's owner and not catching the offender. At certain instances, it could stop the chase and stop to see if it's owner is doing fine.
German Shepherds, on the other hand, know exactly when to chase down an offender and they never retreat until the guy is caught. They may be lot more smaller than their fellow but there are sure smarter.
