Federal Government To Spends N658 Million on Sniffer Dogs

The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday 18, August 2021 approved over N600 million to buy sniffer dogs in the two major airports in the country located at Abuja and Lagos.

For clarity, a sniffer dog also known as a detection dog is a well-trained dog that can sense and detect objects and substances such as, blood, illicit drugs, explosives, money etc 

Some of the dogs in this category are the German shepherd, Bloodhound, Pitbull amongst others.

These dogs can also be used for hunting and tracking especially at crime scenes as seen in movies and documentaries. They are well known to have a high trust rate at what they do and could go as high as N8 million to specially train a sniffer dog at the airport.
