Prevent Dog Scratches and Bites: Dog bites can cause pain and injury, but they can also spread germs that cause infection. Do not disturb a dog while it is eating, sleeping, or caring for puppies, do not pet a dog if it appears to be hiding or seeing time alone, do not continue petting a dog if it seems scared, sick, or angry.
First Aid Treatment for Dog Bites: The first thing you should do following a dog bite is to put distance between yourself and the dog. If the dog’s owner is nearby, ask for the dog’s vaccination history, so as to know if you are at risk of infection. If your skin wasn’t broken, wash the area with warm water and soap.
