3 Physical Body Features That Differentiates A Dog From A Wolf

While it may be easy to identify some breeds of dogs and tell them apart from a wolf, there are other breeds of dogs that may pose a little difficulty when differentiating them from a wolf. Some of these breeds of dogs that have close resemblance to wolves may include the Siberian husky, Alaskan malamute and the Samoyed, according to Pet MD.

Interestingly, despite the physical resemblance between these carnivores, there are some physical features that can help an individual differentiate a dog from a wolf. These features are discussed below.

1. Skull and Jaw.

According to Pet MD, the skull of a wolf is usually larger than the skull of a dog. Aside the Skull, the jaws of wolves are also said to be larger and stronger than the jaws of a dog.

2. Face and eyes.

According to Pet MD, the face of a dog is usually rounder than the face of a wolf. It was also said that the eyes in dogs are larger than the wolf eyes.

3. Feet.

The feet are also another physical features that differentiate the dog from the wolf. According to Pet MD, wolves have enormous feet as compared to dogs and the two front middle toes on the feet of a wolf are much larger than their side toes.

Summarily, dogs have a smaller skull, Jaw with a rounder face and larger eyes. However, the feet of the wolves tend to be bigger than those of the dogs.
