“Enugu has always been plagued with water scarcity,” Twitter User says

Thu, 4 Mar

The Punch had earlier reported “Water Scarcity: Enugu residents lament on social media.” And shared the following photos to depict the situation on ground.

But according to the tweet from @EweteOluwasegun who has experienced life both in the cities in Enugu and outskirts, the coal city has always been plague with water scarcity. Read “Enugu has always been plagued with Water Scarcity. Though I enjoyed my stay both in the city and outskirts.”

“I sincerely hope ‘The Billboard Governor’ would rise up to the occasion,” he addedPhoto of Oluwasegun Ewete, photo credit: Twitter.

Enugu is the Igbo interpretation of a hill or mountain, and as this suggests, water supply has been a major challenge in the State.

As I can remember; the last time I journeyed home to Nachi, Udi, Enugu. I encountered a similar situation, where we had only one borehole in the whole community.

We paid heavily to tankers to fill our reservoirs because the borehole was crowded.

Mind you, this happened some years back and during the rainy season. So, I can imagine the hardship the residents are passing through to fetch water this dry season.

In my opinion, I think the incumbent governor should shift his attentions to this area especially now that it has turned to a yearly occurrence.
