The Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission AKISIEC has hinted that the Local Government Elections has been slated for October 31st 2020.
The commitee made the disclosure yesterday in a press briefing in Uyo the state capital. The political space in Akwa Ibom State has been heating up as individuals and political parties get prepared for local government seats. The ruling People's Democratic Party PDP who won all elective seats in the last Local Government elections are already in the driving seat to repeat the same feat come October.
The main opposition party the All Progressive Congress is not left out in the preparations as well as the other political parties who have little or no presence in Akwa Ibom State.
The State Election umpire will also reel out guidelines on how the elections will be conducted following NCDC protocols as the country joins the world in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.
However the full time table for the Local government elections are yet to be released.
