Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu received her first degree in medicine and surgery from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She later specialized in paediatrics and neonatology in the United Kingdom. Dr Zainab also had a master's in paediatrics, and a diploma in tropical child health. She is also a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu returned to Nigeria in 2002, where she established and head the paediatric unit of Garki Hospital under a pioneering public private partnership (PPP). She also came up with an Initiative Diagnostic Centre, Medicaid Radio-Diagnostics. Dr Zainab is the Chief Executive of Medicaid, where she is also the founder of Medicaid Cancer Foundation (MCF). The foundation is popular in organizing an annual one million-walk away cancer fundraiser.
Her husband, the Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, was once a senator representing Kebbi Central in the National Assembly. He was first elected as Governor of the state in 2015 under the flag of All Progressive Congress (APC), during the 2019 general elections, Governor Bagudu was re-elected for a second term in office as Governor of Kebbi State.
Recently, Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu organized a lecture that will focus on the role of women in Islam, the lecture will take place today Saturday 17th April 2021 on the Zoom online platform.
