Hon.Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has disclosed that Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei, the Acting Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, who slumped during the ongoing investigative hearing will not appear before the House Committee committee any longer.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives made this disclosure that the resumption of the session adjourned following the collapse of Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei. Rather, the speaker said written response of the acting Managing Director of the Commission will be adopted by the House Committee.
Honourable Gbajabiamila made this statement while responding to questions after the acting NDDC boss collapsed and was rushed out of the Conference Room for urgent medical attention.
According to him, “There would be no need for the MD of NDDC to appear anymore since he has submitted a written response.
"I wish Mr. Pondei safe and speedy recovery and I have also sent the Medical Director of the National Assembly to follow up to ascertain the condition of the MD. Thank you very much and I, therefore, hand over to the current chairman of the Committee, Mr. Thomas Ereyitomi to continue with the hearing”.
It will be recalled that Professor Pondei slumped on his chair, after 45 minutes of being grilled by the House Committee probing the financial misappropriation of large sum of money on the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, in which allegations and counter allegations have been pointed at one another by the dramatis personnae involved in the scandal.
