The Northern governors forum rejected the decision of the Southern Governors that 2023 presidency should be zoned to the southern region. The Northern governors claimed that the zoning of presidency is not included in the constitution of Nigeria.

Recently, Ibrahim Shekarau (Former Governor of Kano State) asked APC (All Progressives Congress) to zone the 2023 presidency to the South. He made this statement while speaking in an interview on Channels Television (Breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily).

Southern Governors should know that they cannot use forceful ways to make the Northern leaders to zone 2023 presidency to their region.
Shekarau made this statement while condemning the method used by Southern governors over the zoning of 2023 Presidency.
Also, Northern governors should know that zoning of 2023 presidency to the Southern region will prove that there is equity and fairness in the political system in Nigeria.

Shekarau said that rotating the office of the President between the North and South will give citizens the sense of belonging which is necessary for the development of the nation.
