As the people of Ekiti State prepare to elect a new Governor that will take over the baton of leadership from Governor Fayemi, some influential politicians in the state have been tipped to contest for the governorship election.
One of the influential politicians who have been tipped to take over the governance of the State from Governor Fayemi is the current Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Senator Biodun Olujimi.

Political pundits believed that Senator Biodun Olujimi may set the pace in 2022 and become the first elected female Governor in Nigeria.
Two strong reasons may likely work for Senator Biodun Olujimi for her to emerge as the next Governor of Ekiti State in 2022.
One of the reasons Senator Olujimi may become the next Governor of Ekiti State is the ongoing agitation for zoning. The people of Ekiti South are currently agitating for zoning for power to shift to Ekiti South Senatorial District.

One of the influential politicians championing the call for zoning is Senator Biodun Olujimi who is currently representing Ekiti South Senatorial District in the Senate.
Recall that since the return of democracy in 1999, the people of Ekiti South Senatorial District have not had the opportunity to produce the Governor of the State.

The Ekiti governorship seat has been between Ekiti Central and Ekiti North Senatorial districts. The ongoing agitation for zoning may likely favour Senator Olujimi who is one f the politicians championing the call for fair play in state politics.
The recent move by the stakeholders of the senatorial district under the aegis of Ekiti South Agenda Forum has increased the chance of Ekiti South in the June 18, 2022, gubernatorial election.
Her political influence in the State
Another thing that may also favour Senator Olujimi in the next governorship election in the State is her current political influence in Ekiti State.

The courageous woman has been able to carve a niche for herself as a political figure to reckon with in Ekiti State. She has survived many hurdles in a men-dominated terrain that endeared many people in the State to her.
Recall that she had earlier served as Deputy Governor of Ekiti State before she became a Senator, she has been able to create a strong political network for herself in the State.

Her political experience as a former Deputy Governor of the State and a current Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria may convince political players and power brokers in the State to support her candidature in 2022 to fly the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party and win the governorship election.
