Why Southern Nigeria Is Right to Disagree With North That Northern Won't Continue to Rule Nigeria

The Southern Nigeria Frontier, SNF has described as grand illusion a statement made by the Publicity Secretary of Northern Elders Forum, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed that the North will continue to rule Nigeria. The NEF had even said that the North has majority of Nigeria's population and that they will produce the president in 2023 without any recourse to any rotational or zoning arrangement.

However, according to Punch News the Southern Nigeria Frontier, SNF has objected to Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed statement. In a statement by the spokesman of SNF, Dr. Olufemi Lawson on TVC, the Southerner Nigeria group said "an attempt to shift the goal post in the middle of a soccer match won't stand" adding that "it is conventionally and morally right for the next president of Nigeria to come from the South."

It should be said here that the Southern Nigeria Frontier is very right in their statement. First and foremost Zoning of presidency is a principle agreed to by both Northern and Southern Nigeria. The South should be allowed to produce the next president, Since the North produced the current president Muhamadu Buhari who has been ruling since 2015.

Secondly, if a Northerner emerges as president in 2023, it will be nothing but cheating to the South. This could lead to disunity and unrest in the country.
