1. The House of Representatives Convenes Akpabio After Nunieh Appeared Before Committee
The House of Representative Committee which is investigating adduced embezzlement of funds in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has summoned Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, to appear before it on Monday.
This follows the appearance of the former Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Joi Nunieh, on Friday. Nunieh showed up before the committee via Zoom.
She was scheduled to appear before the committee on Thursday, but her Port Harcourt home was surrounded by Police. It took the intervention of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, to save her from the siege and she was taken to the Government House.
2. About 500 APC Members Defects To PDP In Edo State, Nigeria
Over 500 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Edo state.
It was reported that in Ikpoba-Okha LGA, Several indigenes defiled the rain and trooped out in a unity rally, as the Chairman, Councillor, SA and more than 500 members of the APC in Ward 08 formally declared their defection to the PDP. It will be recalled that state governor, Godwin Obaseki may be facing the toughest elections of his political career against his rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC. Obaseki, who was formerly in the APC had to defect to the PDP a month ago after he was disqualified from the Party’s primaries.
