The Governors of Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo State had a meeting on Sunday 11 April 2021 with heads of security for the the first South East security summit that took place in Owerri the Imo state capital.
In an interview with Channels TV, Governor Ikpeazu said that the Ebube Agu security team will oversee and monitor the activities of all other vigilante groups in the South East region.
He went further to say that the Eastern states already have vigilante groups like the Homeland security of Abia state and the forest Guard of Enugu, that what they did was to join all the security groups as one under the name Ebube Agu. This according to him was done to ensure effective communication and security.
Governor Ikpeazu went further to say that the Ebube Agu security team will also be able to get information before anything happens. He said Ebube Agu will send away those who are in forests and bushes but are not suppose to be there.
Also, he said that the Governor of each state can recruit any number of people as his strength permits to be the members of Ebube Agu security team in his state.
