The South East Where I Come From Believe It Is Their Turn To Be Senate President- Osita Izunaso

Senator-elect for Imo west senatorial district, Osita Izunaso in an interview with Arise News, refused to disclose the number of senators-elect who are supporting his senate presidency ambition.

During the interview, he said he is talking with a lot of senators-elect as regards his ambition and some of them are already buying into his idea.

He however dismissed claims suggesting that he is planning to step down from the senate presidency race and to pick the deputy position.

He said people from the southeast where he comes from, believe it is the turn of the region to produce the next president of the Nigerian senate.

Osita Izunaso said "you don't expect me to be talking about numbers, when I know the senators and I'm engaging them one on one, we are discussing and talking. I'm giving ideas of what I'm going to do when I become senate president and they are buying into it. So why will I come and say that hundreds of senators are supporting me, I prefer to keep it to myself.

"How can I be running for the President of senate and you say I'm going to step down for somebody, to become the person's deputy? We haven't gotten to that stage. Where I come from, the southeast, they believe it's their turn to be senate president."
