Arewa Youth Consultative Forum has charged the Federal Government to team up with the Southwest Governors to ensure the workability of the security initiative of the region, Operation Amotekun.
The National President of the Northern youth group, Alhaji Yerima Shettima flayed those describing Operation Amotekun as illegal and defaming the Southwest Governors for their ingenue security initiative.
Shettima, who declared the group's support for Amotekun, noted the rising surge of insecurity and violence across the country in recent times necessitated the need for community policing.
The group leader, who described himself as a strong supporter of community policing as a result of the spate of insecurity in Nigeria, especially in the northern part of Nigeria, described Amotekun is a right step in the right direction.
Shettima, who charged all well-meaning Nigerians to support Amotekun, charged the North to get ready to start its own version of Amotekun to tackle the spate of insecurity in the North.
The youth leader contended that the people must find a way to protect themselves if the state fails to protect and defend them.
