It is no more news that the Former Governor of Rivers State, Governor Rotimi and Senator Magnus Abe are not in good terms with each other in the State. The rift between the two Leaders has led to serious crisis in the Party.
It should be recalled that the supremacy battle between the two Leaders of the Party, Started in 2018, when Senator Abe aspired to succeed Amaechi as Governor of the state but Amaechi, declined Abe and supported his anointed Candidate Dakuku Peterside, instead of supporting Abe.
Meanwhile, Peterside could not win the Governorship election. He lost the Governorship election to the former Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, who is the incumbent Governor of the State.
The same scenario occurred in 2019 when Abe aspired again to contest Governorship election under the Platform of the Party, but Amaechi Preferred another Governorship Aspirant, Mr Tonye Cole. Meanwhile, Senator Abe believed in his Popularity, among the Party faithfuls.
At the end, PDP still won the 2019 Governorship election in the State because the Two Leaders could not resolve their crisis amicably. However, what happened to APC in 2015 and 2019 Governorship election, will still repeat itself, if the Leaders of the Party, could find lasting solution to the crisis in the Party.
Meanwhile, the Governor of the State, Nyesom Wike are looking for all means to ensure that the Party is relevant at all time. Recently, some Members of the All Progressives Congress APC dumped their Party for PDP in the State. This shows that Governor Wike is not relenting his efforts to lure the opposition Leaders into the Party.
Governor Wike is not a juvenile Politician that can just be undermine when it comes to Politics. Therefore, APC Leaders should find lasting solution to the crisis, rocking the Party, before it is too late.
Though, APC Leaders in the State may believe in Federal might because the Party, controls Federal Government but this alone might not be enough for the Party to win future Polls in the state, if the Leaders of the Party could not manage their crisis.
