Governor Sanwo-olu set up enquiry and restitution panel for victims of police brutality
There is no doubt that the #EndSARS protesters are not relenting towards achieving their goal. The Nigerian youth have been on the street for some days, clamouring for the reformation of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
It is believed that some men of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit have committed several atrocities in the country. Many Nigerians have been sharing their experiences while dealing with the men of the defunct Special Anti Robbery Squad unit.
Some were said to have been extorted by the men of the SARS unit, some were said to have been harassed, while some were believed to have been killed by some men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad Unit.
Nevertheless, in order to address the unscrupulous activities of some men of the defunct SARS unit, and to compensate the family of those who have been killed, the Lagos state government under the leadership of governor Babajide Sanwoolu has created an enquiry and restitution panel for the victim of police brutality.
According to the governor, the panel will be chaired by rtd Justice Doris Okuwobi along with other members of the state. Governor Babajide Olishola Sanwoolu however stated that many youth will be added to the panel.
