It appears that the Supreme Court of Nigeria will be delivering its judgment on the disputed July 16 governorship election in Osun State on May 9 by 2 pm. Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN argue for the SPC at today's proceedings.

The incumbent Governor, Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke, who stood for the poll on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is the major respondent, while Adegboyega Oyetola, who was the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, is the appellant in the Supreme Court matter. It is worth noting that the Court of Appeal had vacated the tribunal judgment that nullified the election of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and held that the appeal lodged by Adeleke to challenge his sack by the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal was meritorious. However, The Court of Appeal in its lead judgement delivered by Justice Mohammed Lawal, awarded N500,000 against Adegboyega Oyetola and its party, All Progressive Congress, APC.
