According to Channelstv, Collins Oreruan, the Chaiman of the Social Democratic Party,(SDP), while speaking on behalf of the group on Friday, said that the decision to team up with the PDP, was made to ensure the Governor gets his second term bid.
Oreruan urged the PDP to include their party in the main campaign organisation for the governorship polls.

It will be recalled that Governor Obaseki had dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) a week after he was disqualified from participating in the APC primary election.
The Edo governorship election is slated for September 19, and the battle seems to be between the two major political parties, PDP and APC, with both presenting Obaseki and Ize-Iyamu, as their respective candidates.
With the series of political developments taking place in Edo, do you think Ize-Iyamu stand any chance of winning the forthcoming governorship polls ?
