The governor of Edo State Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki was elected for a second term in office as Edo State governor last year. Before the election, the All Progressive Congress, APC denied the governor ticket to contest as its flag bearer. Consequently, the governor decamped to the People's Democratic Party, PDP, and won the election.
However, after joining the People's Democratic Party, the governor seems to be having some disputes with his new party.
Many people have rumored that the governor may soon be on his way out of the party. It's believed that the governor would soon reunite with his former party, APC.
One very obvious thing is that Governor Godwin Obaseki although has decamped from APC but has kept a very good relationship with his former party, this is seen in his frequent visit to Aso Rock Villa.
After the Governor met with the president in a closed-door meeting at Aso Rock Villa last week, the governor told newsmen that he will never return to APC because he is a politician with integrity.
But could Obaseki be sincere that he will never return to APC? Only time will tell s we have all witnessed many many politicians in the past who even go to the extent of swearing in the name of God that they will never decamp but return to their vomits at last.
