As complaints about insecurity continue, President Buhari on Monday, July 20, held a meeting with the chief of Army staff. In the last few weeks, the northern region has been attacked by bandits and other criminal elements. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Monday, showed up at an investigative hearing being conducted on the alleged illegal spending and mismanagement by the Niger Delta Development Commission.
Gbajabiamila joined the House Committee on NDDC after the hearing resumed. He said the decision by the Chairman, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to recuse himself from the probe showed that the lawmakers were out to ensure a credible exercise.
The Special Adviser to the President on Anti-Corruption, Abiodun Aikomo, says the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has the power to stop any corruption case without recourse or explanation to the President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). Aikomo, who works in the office of the AGF, said this on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme while responding to allegations that Malami had not been cooperating with anti-corruption agencies.
