Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the governor of Sokoto State and head of the Peoples Democratic Party's presidential campaign, has charged the incumbent party with deploying thugs to sabotage polls.
The PDP was winning by a landslide at the polling places targeted by certain APC-sponsored thugs, according to Governor Tambuwal, who claimed that they utilized violence to make the election inconclusive.
Also, he bemoaned the fact that security officials were present when the incident happened but did nothing.
Everyone in the room is aware of what occurred on Saturday, he said. Before the APC thugs broke into the voting stations under the very eye of security agents, we were winning by a landslide. Several voting places were affected by these thugs, making the majority of the election invalid.
After these incidents, the PDP Campaign Director General said that the party will not put up with any further attempts to rig the election. The party restated its dedication to abiding by the country's electoral regulations, but stressed that it will take a strong stand against any attempts to undermine the decision of the people.
Aminu Tambuwal, the governor, also urged the relevant parties to guarantee future elections are fair and free, as well as that security forces carry out their responsibilities in an impartial and expert manner. In his own words: "Our party, the PDP, thus determines that in so far as it remains a law-abiding political party conducting its activities strictly within the purview of our nation's electoral rules; the party shall henceforth reject rigging."
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a candidate for president from the Peoples Democratic Party, has pledged to dispute the election results in court. He claimed that Bola Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling party was given the advantage in the election.
