The chances of the main opposition party in Nigeria, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to pose threat at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections may, possibly, be influenced by the political popularity and political doggedness of both the presidential candidate of the party and the running mate.

No doubt, one of the most prominent members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that are currently been considered to bear the presidential flag of the party in the 2023 General Elections is, surely, the former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Although, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a popular, viable and formidable politician but his political doggedness may need to be supported by a strong presidential running mate, to ensure better performance of the opposition party in the 2023 General Elections.

Considerably, there are three prominent southern politicians, from whom the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can pick one, that can be paired with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, if he is nominated as the presidential candidate of the party in 2023.

One, the political doggedness of Rivers State Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike could not be under estimated. Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike is politically strong, agile, versatile and formidable to give Alhaji Atiku Abubakar a solid backing, if he is nominated as the presidential running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in 2023 under the platform of the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The youthful age of Governor Nyesom Wike may combine with his administrative achievements as former Minister of Education and two term governor of Rivers State to, positively, boost the opportunity of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to earn the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) enough votes to pose threat at the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.

Secondly, the political ruggedness of former Governor of Ekiti State, Peter Ayodele Fayose, could not be over emphasized. Peter Ayodele Fayose has been in active politics for years and the wealth of experience he has accumulated may be considered as an, added, advantage to influence the performance of Peoples Democratic PArty in the 2023 General Elections.

As two term former governor of Ekiti State, Peter Ayodele Fayose is a political icon that may use his political influence across the nation to booster the chances of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to pose threat at the 2023 General Elections, if he is chosen as running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Thirdly, former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Ishola Oyinlola is another formidable politician who can, reliably, combine forces with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to give the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC a good run in the 2023 presidential contest.

Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has a reliable political connection with formidable political bigwigs who can, surely, influence voting dimensions in so many states. The political connections that Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola must have created himself when, recently, contesting the position of the national chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may also assist him to better maximise the chances of the party to perform excellently, if he is chosen as the running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in the 2023 General Elections.
