APC is Nigeria’s biggest mistake –Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, the former VP, was in his home town of Adamawa on Saturday to collect defections to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

At a ceremony for new PDP supporters in Yola, Atiku said Nigeria got it wrong by installing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in government in 2015, and that the country has an opportunity to remove the group by 2023.

“We have done a tremendous error earlier by establishing a party labelled APC,” Atiku stated, insisting that the current APC is Nigeria's greatest mistake. But, from today, I'm urging you Adamawa individuals to evacuate your parties and embrace the PDP, which is the party of the future and the nation.

”It was the PDP that resurrected Adamawa State after it had been slaughtered by the APC and brought it to its current level of growth.

“Our schools have improved, and our health-care facilities are in excellent condition. I hope that this event represents the start of the party's (APC) imprisonment.”

Atiku and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri were greeted by notable supporters of the APC, notably former Aide to the Adamawa Govt, Kobis Ari Thimnu, and others at the historic Ribadu Square in Yola.

The defectors were guaranteed by Governor Fintiri that they'd be properly treated and on an equal footing.

“Since we have no strangers in the party, I ask the whole of you to provide the incoming defectors the necessary assistance and equal playing field.

”Permit those who want to run for office in them to partake in the election process, and provide them with adequate accommodations and a level playing field. But those who lose elections should stay in the party, because we won't be content with those who simply want to run for office on our platform,” Fintiri remarked.

Kobis Thimnu and Umar Jada, representing the views of the defectors, claimed they quit the APC because of its poor performance.
