Wike Signs Bill On VAT Collection Into Law

Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, has signed into law bill on value-added tax (VAT) collection in the state.

Wike signed the Valued Added Tax Law No. 4 of 2021, into law at the government house in Port Harcourt on Thursday .

A federal high court sitting in Port Harcourt on August 9, issued an order restraining the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) from collecting VAT and personal income tax (PIT) in Rivers state — a ruling already appealed by the revenue-collection agency.

Wike maintained that the judgment of the federal high court had sufficiently addressed the illegality perpetrated by the FIRS.

Obi, a former governor in Anambra, called on Buhari’s regime to invest its several borrowed funds in profitable ventures to enhance the nation’s socio-economic development.

He explained that it was not bad for the regime to borrow money, if the funds were used for investment, that would improve the economy.

According to him, borrowing for consumption is bad. The former governor added that the economy would have been doing better if borrowed funds were invested and rightly spent.

There’s no need for escape to Afghanistan; the traffic is the other way, while Afghanistan’s mythical status is being supplanted by lies, damned lies.

One of the big, fat lies, for example, is that Afghans are cowards, too comfortable hiding behind their burkas and poppy fields to fight for their country.
