Opinion: People of Anambra May Likely Elect One of These 2 Politicians As Next Governor After Obiano

By November 6 this year, the people of Anambra will march to poll to elect a new leader that will preside over the affairs of the state for another four years.

The current governor, Willie Obiano is already on the verge of bidding a farewell to the government house having being on the last lap of his administration.

The governor has spent two terms in office and he is due to pass the baton of leadership to whoever emerges at the poll in November. However, from the litany of aspirants from different political parties that are jostling for the exalted office of the state, two people appear to have a brighter chance based on their influence and capacity to turn the tide in Anambra State.

One of them is definitely billed to take over from Obiano come 2022.

1. Senator Ifeanyi Ubah

Ubah is not a new name in the political firmament of Anambra state. He is currently the senator representing Anambra South in the 9th Assembly.

Ubah has been in the race for the state number one office for two consecutive times without victory. This time, he is coming with more force especially now that the incumbent governor is no longer in the race. A billion businessman with bursting political contact across the country, Ubah may likely run under the platform of the APC.

From his numerous giant strides in the state and the testimonies of about 25,000 workers under his payroll across the state, Ubah seems to have firmly had his hands on the right plough this time. He is reportedly being supported by about 21 billionaires in the state who want him in office by all means.

If all things being equal by November, Ifeanyi Ubah may have a smooth sail to the government house.

2. Charles Soludo

Soludo is a seasoned technocrat and erudite professor of economy. He is the former governor of central bank and with broad experience and intellectual prowess, Soludo has all takes to take Anambra to the next level after Obiano's tenure.

However, he will have to slug out the ticket with other aspirants in the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA where he is planning to re-launch his aspiration. Just like Ubah, Soludo had once thrown his hat into the ring without any success. He is back again in the contest.

If Soludo scales through the primary, he may be unstoppable at the main election especially with the power of incumbency that will be mobilized for him by the outgoing governor.

If all things pan out in the normal order, either Ubah or Soludo will succeed Obiano at the end of his tenure.
