1. NDDC: House of Reps summons Akpabio after Joi Nunieh appeared before committee
The House of Representative Committee which is investigating alleged misappropriation in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has summoned the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, to appear before it on Monday.
This follows the appearance of the former Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Joi Nunieh, on Friday.
Nunieh showed up before the committee via Zoom.
2. Ondo: I see Akeredolu winning APC primary election, but there is danger – Primate Ayodele
The leader of INRI Evangelical spiritual church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has predicted the winner of the July 20 All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election in Ondo State.
Primate Ayodele predicted that the State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu would emerge winner of the party’s primary election in the state.
The clergyman said Akeredolu would win because he has taken steps that will lead him to victory.
In a statement he sent to DAILY POST, the clergyman, however, warned that his victory at the primary election doesn’t guarantee his victory in the governorship election because he sees danger lying ahead of him.
3. Police refute Wike, say IGP, Rivers CP aware of Nunieh’s home invasion
The Rivers State Police Command has said the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and Commissioner of Police in the state, Joseph Mukan, were aware of the invasion of home of the former Acting Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Joy Nunieh, by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Public Relations Officer of the state police Command, DSP. Nnamdi Omoni, disclosed this in a statement in Port Harcourt on Friday.
The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike who had rescued Nunieh from the siege was quoted to have said; “I called the Commissioner of Police, he said he was not aware. They said it’s the IGP Monitoring Team, but I have spoken to the authorities, they said the IG is not even aware.
4. Man docked for illegal possession of 80 army uniforms
A 42-year-old man, Christian Obi, Friday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly being in unlawful possession of 80 pieces of already sewn army camouflage uniforms.
Obi pleaded not guilty.
Police prosecutor, Insp. Doney Raphel, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 5, on Olojo Drive, Ojo.
5. Rivers CP Calls on Wike to Hand over Ex-NDDC Boss
Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Gobum Mukan, has called on Governor Nyesom Wike to hand over former Acting Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Joi Nunieh, who is currently taking refuge at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The Rivers State Police boss called on the governor to hand over Nunieh while appearing on ARISE TV Friday.
Wike had stormed the Port Harcourt residence of the former NDDC boss Thursday and freed her from police siege.
Nunieh, who has been engaged in a running battle with Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio, was billed to testify before the House of Representatives yesterday on the alleged monumental corruption in the NDDC.
