Recently a prominent Northern Senator, Shehu Sani, have developed a new appellation for the necessary coexistence of the Igbo ethnic group and the Hausa ethnic group. From what he posted on his official and verified twitter handle, the senator says:
" Igbo And Hausa Are Still One; And That's IGBUSA......Elderstateman Ike Omar Sanda Nwachukwu can lead this one."
The intention and implications of this recent post is still yet to be unraveled but a close look at the post would suggest a patriotic call for peaceful coexistence in the country amidst unprecedented security threats in the country. For some time now, the Igbo and Hausa ethnic groups have been at loggerheads over societal issues with ethnic and religious inclinations.
Coincidentally enough, the post is coming up some hours after the governors of the Southeastern region set up a joint security outfit with the codename, Ebubeagu. According to the Easterners, the security outfit would be on the same page with the country's security apparatus.
Nothwithstanding, the security threats in the country, it couldn't be overemphasized that our uniqueness lies in our unity and this Senator have successfully passed across the message subtly.
Here are screenshots of people's reactions.
What do you think about the name, IGBUSA?
