2 Reasons Why Buhari Government Is Right For Not Naming Boko Haram Financiers

There have been clamours by some people that the Buhari administration should name those that are responsible for financing Boko Haram in the country. This agitation came after the government announced that it had discovered some high-profiled people sponsoring the dread group.

Femi Adesina, media aide to President Buhari, has also made it known on Channels TV on Monday that the current administration will not name or shame Boko Haram financiers but wants to bring them to justice.

Here are two reasons why I believe that the Buhari Administration is right in not naming those sponsoring Boko Haram.

Those Arrested To Be Financing The Organization Are Still Suspects.

There have not been any reports about high-profiled personnel being dragged to court to justify their actions if they are found guilty of the allegations. Since they are reported to be powerful people in society, attempting to make their names known to the public before being found guilty by the law court may tarnish the image of such individuals when the law court does not find them guilty of committing the alleged crime at the end of the day.

Financiers Of Other Groups Like IPOB Are Not Named.

IPOB, just like Bokoharam, is another group that is proscribed in Nigeria. The IPOB is also reportedly funded by some people whose names the government has never made known, except for the name of the group leader, Nnamdi Kanu, whom everyone sees as the face of the group. The identities of some alleged financiers of the group have not been made known by the government.

Looking at these points, I believe the Buhari government is right to also not mention the names of the high-profiled people alleged to be sponsoring Boko Haram.
