2 Reasons Why Many Northern Politicians Don't Support Zoning Presidency To The South In 2023.

As the 2023 election is getting closer every day, the zoning of the presidency is one of the issues that has always caused a lot of reaction and argument between the south and the northern part of Nigeria.

Many Southern groups, such as Afenifere Ohanaeze, Pandef and the Southern Governors, have declared their support for the Presidency to be shifted to their region since the current President is a Northerner.

Unfortunately, the northern elders, politicians, and the 19 northern governors oppose the southerners' proposal, claiming that zoning the presidency is unconstitutional.

However, based on how things are going now in the country, these are the 2 possible reasons why many Northerners don't support zoning the Presidency to the South.

The Southern Governors and Elites are not agitating for it in a cool way:

Many northerners kick against it because the majority of southern elites and governors are agitating for it like "do or die". Some are even threatening the unity of Nigeria if it doesn't happen in 2023.

Many northerners believe that the southern politicians should do it in a cool way by negotiating with them, with mutual agreement and respect, unlike how they are saying it like it is something that must happen whether they like it or not.

Since 1999, Southerners have ruled Nigeria more than the North.

Many Northerners feel cheated over the fact that Goodluck Jonathan and Obasanjo have ruled this country for 14 years, whereas the Northerners will just complete their 10-years in power in 2023.

Many of them believe that the real definition of equity is that the north should have another 4 years in 2023 to balance it up with the south, and after that, zoning of the Presidency to the south can be put into consideration.
