Opinion : Why Governor Oyetola May Not Win 2022 Governorship Election In Osun State

As the State of Osun approaches 2022 Gubernatorial election, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola May not find it easy to win the election due to unsettled differences among the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state.

It is no more news that all is not well among the members of APC in Osun state as the members are divided into caucuses. The faction of The Osun Progressives ( TOP) led by former chairman Elder Lowo Adebiyi and the caucus sympathizing with Governor Oyetola.

Despite claiming from Governor Adegboyega Oyetola that there is no rancour between him and his predecessor, Ogbeni Raufu Aregbesola, he may not get the support he enjoyed from "Ogbeni" in 2018 come 2022.

The TOP leaders and his members alleged that they were not carried along in the sharing of goodies of government. A member of TOP and also former Commissioner of Local Government , Culture and Tourism, Prince Adetona Sikiru Ayedun in a phone-in -programme on radio claimed that their caucus was robbed during the Wards and Local Government Congress organized by the APC some weeks ago in Osun state.

Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola May find it difficult to win 2022 Governorship poll if the party fail to set their house in order, settle their differences and stop trading blame on one another.

Another reason the governor may not win the forthcoming gubernatorial election is the popularity Senator Ademola Adeleke is gaining daily in the state. Adeleke who contested on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the last Governorship poll and lost to Oyetola has just declared his ambition to recontest come 2022.

not only that he (Adeleke) declared his ambition to contest the election but also gave Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola quit notice as he told him to start preparing his handover note.

Recall that Senator Ademola Adeleke had left the State of Osun for the United States of America two years ago after he lost the 2018 Governorship Election to Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola. He was welcomed by mammoth crowd on Tuesday, 7th September, 2021 at Osogbo.
