The Senator representing Nassarawa West Senatorial District and former governor of Nassarawa State Senator Abdullahi Adamu has opined that Nigerian Government should treat herdsmen the same way it is treating business men in Onitsha, Alaba and any other part of the country.
The Senator who spoke at a media parley with Senate press corps on Monday said that the hullabaloo about herdsmen in the country were unnecessary. He said that herdsmen were carrying out their business like other business men in the country and as a result has the Constitutional right to be protected by government at all levels.
Senator Adamu lamented the fact that herdsmen because of their calling don't enjoy social infrastructure like Pipe borne water, electricity, good roads yet their rights were being stampeded. He therefore called on government at all levels to give protection to Herdsmen stating that the anti open grazing bill being passed by governors in Southern Nigeria is not fair to the herdsmen.
But, is Senator Abdullahi Adamu saying the truth? How about many cases of Marauding Herdsmen that have killed and maimed many farmers especially in Southern Nigeria? Were those killings part of the Herdsmen business?
Well, may be the real herdsmen are the ones doing their businesses and there are other miscreants hiding under the guise of Herdsmen to unleash their evil plan on Nigerians.
It must be thus be submitted here that the federal government of Nigeria should carry out serious investigation to fish out the impersonating Herdsmen that are going about causing troubles in the country and deal with them. So as to accord the right protection and conducive environment to the real herdsmen that are going about doing their honest business.
