Police In Gun Battle With Kidnappers In Delta, OBJ Shot Dead

A suspected kidnapper identified as Felix A.K.A OBJ has been shot dead while three of his colleagues were arrested with serious gunshot injuries following their gun battle with the operatives of the Delta Police Command in Ugheli area of the State.

Delta Police Command spokesman, Bright Edafe, revealed this in statement on Tuesday.

According to him, the gang had earlier that snatched an AK47 rifle from a police officer and also allegedly kidnapped and murdered one Godspower Emmanuel after collecting N400,000 as ransom.

Peter Obi Replies Wole Soyinka On ‘fascist’ comment

The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the February 25 presidential election, Mr Peter Obi has reacted to Prof Wole Soyinka’s allegation that his supporters widely known as ‘Obidients’ are ‘fascists’.

Obi said he was very sad there was such an exchange, maintaining that he respects Soyinka as a father.

He gave the response on Monday while fielding questions on Arise Televison’s Prime Time programme.


ECOWAS Parliament Writes UK Court, Seeks Clemency For Ekweremadu

THE Speaker of the Parlament of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS Parliament/Community Parlament, Hon. Sidie Mohamed Tunis has written a letter to the Chief Clerk of the Central Criminal Court in London to temper justice with mercy over the conviction of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife.

Recall that Senator Ekweremadu and his wife, alongside a Nigerian doctor, Obinna Obeta, were recently found guilty of attempted organ harvesting of a Nigerian trafficked to Britain to provide a kidney for their ailing daughter. 

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had last month written a similar where he pleaded same for Ekweremadu.


Umahi Visits Buhari

For the sake of equity, the South-East should be prioritised in zoning considerations for the senate presidency seat, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Umahi, who made the plea on Tuesday after a private meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja, argued that the inadequacy of votes from the South-East should not be a deterrent. The governor urged the party to show understanding, underscoring that he fought for the APC, in spite of criticisms even at the peak of the EndSARS protests.
