Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege was born on August 23, 1963. He's a Nigerian lawyer and politician who is currently the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate. He is senator representing the Delta State Central Senatorial District at the Nigerian senate. Omo-Agege was first elected in the year 2011 into the 8th senate.
Omo-Agege is a strong politicians in his own right. He won the Delta Central Senatorial election in 2015 when the President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was in power under the platform of People Democratic Party PDP umbrella.
Although, Omo-Agege was not declared winner of the 2015 general election. He decided to went to court and challenged the already declared result in favour of PDP's candidate.
The energetic niger delta politician, Omo-Agege won his case in court. Then, he was in Labour Party. He later moved to the ruling All Progressive Congress APC, few months away to the 2019 general election, he defied all odds to win his re-election. Moreover, he also defied odds again to emerged the Deputy Senate President since his new party, with the support of presidential villa and the national leader of the APC, the former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmad Tinubu.
The influence of the 9th Senate Deputy President in the South-South is very strong. He is about the highest office holder in the ruling APC in Abuja from Niger Delta region.
However, Omo-Agege is also considered to be popular among the youths and other stakeholders in the Niger Delta. He's very energetic and also close to the powers that be at the center.
Lastly, Omo-Agege is among the 49 members campaign council set up by the National Caretaker Committee of the APC for the Edo State forthcoming governorship election scheduled to take place on 19th September 2020 in the state.
It's inarguably, Omo-Agege will play a big role in Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu's campaign. His influence in the campaign can help Ize-Iyamu to record a landslide victory over the incumbent Governor of the state, Mr. Godwin Obasaki, the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP. Omo-Agege has loyalists and network of supporters who can deliver Edo State for Ize-Iyamu come September.
