According to reports, the Rivers State Government under the Administration of His Excellency Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has changed the curfew hours in the State, from 7:00pm to 6:00am daily to 8:30pm to 6:00am daily only for Port Harcourt and Obio Akpor Local Government Areas only, leaving other Local Government Areas at 7:00pm to 6:00am.
The Rivers State Government made the disclosure today being Saturday 15th May 2021, the new curfew hours is said to be effective from tomorrow being Sunday 16th May 2021. The Rivers State Executive Governor, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike (CON), made the disclosure in Ogoni Ethnic group of the State where he went today.
Governor Wike while giving his speech at the Ogoni welcome visit, stated that he has instructed the Police Command in the State to find and arrest prominent personalities who defaults or violates the stipulated curfew hours, stating that he wants to use such personalities as examples so other people can learn from. We could still recall that the curfew is caused by the several attacks of the Unknown Gunmen on Police Stations and Checkpoints in the State.
Other Local Government Areas in the State are still expected and advised to keep to the formal curfew hours for security reasons, till further notice when the security agencies could have tackle the situation properly.
