The Governor of Rivers State, Mr Nyesom Wike has stated that nobody can kill him before his time. The Governor on Saturday, May 15 said that nobody in the country can intimidate him or make him stop doing right things to will favour the people. The governor said these in reaction to the agitation and condemnation of the ban on open grazing by southern Governors in Asaba, Delta State. The governor stated that he will only die on the day God wants him to die.
His statement reads:
"Nobody can cow me. The government cannot cow me. I will say my mind and I will do what is right for my people. Nobody can kill me before my time. I will die the day God wants me to die. Let me also tell those who are criticizing Southern Governors ban on open grazing, let me inform them that I have taken further steps to enforce what the governors resolved in Asaba"
Recall that The National Secretary of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhassan Saleh, called the ban an empty policy. According to him, The governors are confused and mischievous.
However, South East lawmakers supported the decision of southern governors to ban open grazing in the region, stating that Nigeria does not gain anything from it.
