The Benue State Police Command has refuted the claim by the Chairman, Ado Local Government Area of Benue State that some faceless people hoisted Indigeneous People of Biafra, IPOB's flags in the Local Government.

The Loca Government Chairman Mr. James Oche had told newsmen that the flags were hoisted at Ekile in the council area on Sunday.

But in a reaction, the Benue State Police Command through the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Catherine Anene, in a text message to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said no IPOB flag was hoisted at Ado.

The Chairman had alleged that, some IPOB members on Sunday stormed the Ekile market, beat up Government revenue collectors and said the Nigerian Government and by extension, the Local Government could no longer collect revenue from the market.

They reportedly claimed that IPOB members will henceforth take over revenue collection in the market.

His words, They said the revenue from the market will be put into IPOB purse."

Mr Oche claimed that he notified the police who mobilised to the scene but where overpowered by the IPOB members who almost carted away their service riffles.

According to him, he then notified troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) who succeeded in arresting some of the IPOB members.

But the police denied knowledge of this and the leadership of IPOB is yet to respond to the allegetions.

What is the Chairman up to?
