I took time to read the interview Oil Magnet Prince Arthur Eze granted Thisday Newspaper few days ago. I read in between lines and saw a man who is living the life of Late Zik of Africa, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. I saw a man who believes in one Nigeria and will go a long way to fight for it. Arthur made me believe some things I heard before now on how Igbos lived peacefully with Northerners in those days. It made me believe what my uncle told me when I once lived with him in Shendam in Pleteau State. I had asked him how he acquired the large portion of land which he used to set up a Bar.
He told me that a traditional ruler in the community gave it to him for free. I was curious and I asked him what will happen to it if he decides to leave the North, he told me that he would leave it for the community. However, he told me that he was Ok there, and doesn't see himself leaving in the next 20 years. After I read what Arthur Eze said, I came to realize that Igbos still have a man that the core North can trust and support should the Igbos field him for President in 2023. Arthur Eze made it clear that it was the North that made him.
He recalled how he went to the North with no kobo but became somebody through the help of some people like Abubakar Rimi and other Northern politicians who helped him. What I discovered is that Arthur Eze is so much in love with the Northern Nigeria. He even made it clear that doesn't care where people come indirectly stating his belief in one united Nigeria.
Igbos should read political meaning into what Arthur Eze said. 2023 is coming and the Presidency is expected to return to the North. Igbos will make it if they field Arthur Eze. I used to see Rochas Okorocha and Orji Uzor Kalu as some Igbo politicians Northerners believe in until Arthur Eze gave that profound interview. To me the North believe in Arthur Eze and that is why he has had this smooth relationship with them. If Igbos can convince Arthur Eze to run for President in 2023, and he fortunately gets the ticket of either PDP or APC, the much awaited Igbo Presidency will be near.
Arthur Eze has indirectly told Igbos that his cordial relationship with Northern politicians will work for them in 2023. Ndigbo should know that if they miss the 2023 chance, the will have to wait for another 16 years before they can stand a chance again.
It is even a plus that him and President Buhari are friends. The votes from the North is very important in who becomes the President of Nigeria. Igbos should make hay while the sun shines. Do you think Igbos will produce the next President of Nigeria with Arthur Eze considering his relationship with the North? Drop your comment below. Also like and share this article.
