Controversy engulfs twitter over Bishop Oyedepo's comment on Tithing

The founder and general overseer of wiiners chapel international Bishop David Oyedepo has caused an implosion of criticism on his twitter official page over his comment on the relationship between tithing and prosperity which can be equated with success

Speaking on his twitter account, he stated "Tithing is an impeccable covenant obligation. Prosperity not just wealth is impossible without tithing, because when you are not paying your tithe, you are under a financial curse #Tithe #breaking limit''. This has not gone down well with many twitter users who has criticized his opinion

One of his critics the polymath, a PHD candidate at Edinburgh said " Tithing cannot create wealth!, wealth creation occurs when you deploy capital to create value, when X gives 1/ 10 of his earning to your church, there is no production or investment. Thus he has not created value but only enriched you. Tithing is a church sponsored ponzi scheme''.

Of many critics comments , some twitter uses have also taken his side. One of his supporters Esosa said ''The more you give,the more you get. It is the law that governs wealth. The more you invest, whether money , time, or services, the more you get. That can be applied to tithing i guess".

The debate about whether to pay tithe or not has been a raging issue for some time in the Nigerian Christendom.
