Guinea Coup: A Terrible Situation In West Africa Which Nigeria Should Be Worried About

Even though the ousted President is not democrat par excellence, nobody can deny that the worst Civil governance is 100% better than the best Military junta. The international community should insist on the unconditional return of instruments of power and control of the State to the ousted president immediately.

But many Nigerians have been asking the question that what is the difference between truncating "democracy" by a military coup and truncating the will of the people by election rigging in a "democracy" with West Africa as a case study and Guinea Conakry in particular? President Conte was seeking a third term in office, due to this, he has changed the constitution, goes against the will of his people, and buried the wish of his comrades.

The fact is that this will continue to happen until all the colonial structures in black Africa are dismantled. The development continues to show that civilians cannot manage these structures that are created by force and can only be maintained by force. Let us be sincere to ourselves. We have seen in the past that military governance cannot make any correction. Despite the political upheaval in 3rd world countries, democracy still stands as the best form of governance.

Democracy is the people's government through the power of the vote. No matter the degree of irregularity, if the voice of the people is unanimous, the greedy politicians will give up. Even when power is trying to manipulate the process but the overwhelming votes of the people silenced them. It is possible everywhere and in the nearest future.

The UN, Nigeria, and other countries of the world where democracy is being practiced have stood to condemned the forceful take over of a politically elected president by the military. This is a terrible situation in West Africa which Nigeria should be worried about by preparing for the worse that will come up from the overthrown.
