Nigerians react to Transparency International (TI) corruption perception report of the country

In recent days, Nigeria was rate as the 149th country with corruption index by the International body called Transparency International (TI).

Many Nigerians especially the main opposition party, People Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted through their social media handles that the report is true and fair, while Presidency fault the report.

the PDP has reacted to the 2020 corruption index report by Transparency International (TI) which placed Nigeria 149th on the corruption perception index.

The party spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the report is evidence that corruption has worsened under the Buhari administration, It lamented that Nigeria’s decline on the corruption index from 136th in 2016 to 144th in 2018, 146th in 2019, and now 149th in 2020.

Meanwhile, the presidency through Presidential media Aid,Garba Shehu has rejected the report from Transparency International (TI). The presidency has described the corruption perception index report as mere retrograde tales that aim to reveal nothing new except to portray the federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari in a bad light.

This report is not accurate - Presidency kicks against Nigeria's corruption ranking More importantly, the media aide to President Buhari claimed that members of the global body in Nigeria are of the oppostion. He stated.

Shehu, therefore, called on well-meaning Nigerians to stand with the Buhari-led government which has made remarkable and commendable efforts in "asset recovery, prosecution, legislation, political will and leadership by example in the fight against corruption.
