Aside from the crisis in Northern Nigeria, the Southeastern part of the country is also not at peace. There have been so many reports of attacks from the IPOB members on security agents, and even public properties.

For some time, now this group has passed different Sit-at-home orders, which I believe is a result of the arrest of their leader Nnamdi Kanu.

Once against, the group declared another Sit-at-home order, that should be observed in the Southeast on 1st October; the country's independence, they also stated that Nigerian flags should not be seen flying in all Igbo states.

In reaction to this, the governor of Ebonyi state; David Umahi, spoke, condemning the rate of insecurity, and stating that Nigerian flags must fly in Ebonyi and other Southeastern states on Friday; 1st October.

He revealed that such ugly development brings disunity among the people, and it must come to an end as soon as possible.

He said;

"My opinion about the sit-at-home order is; all flies must be flying very high tomorrow, and much higher than ever before, we believe in unity, peace, and progress, we believe in equity and love among the people in the nation".

"We condemn the insecurity and unrest caused by 'Unknown gunmen'. I appeal on behave of all Southeast governors that this comes to a quick end.

He went further to say that many people in Ebonyi have been deprived of a comfortable life, because of these unpleasant orders.

"The people responsible for passing these orders are not here with us, but they are our brothers abroad, and they are paid hourly, so life is not difficult for them".

"But those who have been killed here, in battles with security agents, are our sons and daughters, belonging to some of us sitting at home". Umahi said.

He ended his statement by urging all citizens in the Southeast to disregard the Sit-at-home order and reunite as one Nigeria.

A Call For Peace In The Southeast

This is a call for peace and Unity in the Southeast, it is clear that IPOB doesn't have the interest of the people at heart, sitting at home doesn't make things any better for the Igbos and others living in the South East.

If we can unite, and stand against this order, the IPOB will have no option other than to submit.

This is not a time to fight, this is not a time for war, instead of fighting ourselves, we should unite and fight our external enemies.
