
Political activities have increased in Kogi State ahead of the governorship and House of Assembly elections.

A spokesman for the Peoples Democratic party presidential candidate Senator Dino Melaye has donated 500,000 naira each to 25 House of Assembly candidates.
The funds is to help them prepare well for the forthcoming elections. The candidates are PDP members and they are contesting to join the state House of Assembly under the party. Melaye confirmed this via his Facebook page on Sunday as the date for the election draws nearer.
The senator is planning ahead of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary eoectionslated for April 18, 2023. He is from the western part of Kogi State which has not produced an elected governor since the return to democracy in 1999, in Kogi State.
Dino Melaye has been very vocal on social media against electoral malpractices since his party lost the presidential election to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
