It is no longer news that a Federal High Court in Kano has declared the votes garnered by Alex Otti during the last governorship election in Abia state as wasted votes. Recall that in a report released by Premium Times, the judge cited failure of Labour party to submit its membership registers to INEC preparatory to the party's primaries as basis for the verdict.
However, spokesperson of the Labour Party presidential campaign council, Kenneth Okonkwo has disclosed that the judgement did not take them by surprise. In a post released on his Twitter handle, he said Nigerians should not be worried about the judgement of the Federal High Court in Kano. He said the judgement was masterminded by political merchants who are desperate to satisfy their paymasters. He said the judgement will soon fizzle out.
"Nigerians should not be worried by the purported controversial judgement of a Kano Federal High Court, which gave contradictory orders on the status of the elected candidates of the Labour Party. We were not surprised about the judgement because before it was delivered. The political merchants who took the case there to earn their pay from their masters in the ruling party were already boasting openly that they will obtain such judgement and they did. A lot of things will come out with time." He wrote.
