2 PDP Politicians That Olusegun Obasanjo Can Endorse As President And Vice President Towards 2023

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo can endorse two top politicians as the people that will be representing the interest of the party in the upcoming general election. The opposition party needs to unseat the government of the All Progressive Congress (APC) this time around, and every member of the party should contribute to the incoming presidential election in one way or the other. As a former president of the country, Olusegun Obasanjo can use the experience that he has already gathered to endorse those that are capable of leading the party in the year 2023.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) used to be the major stronghold political party in the country before the formation of the ruling party. The opposition party ruled for sixteen years before the newly formed All Progressive Congress (APC). Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was defeated in the year twenty fifteen presidential election and the ruling party took over the mantle of leadership. In the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar alongside Peter Obi attempted to reclaim the lost mantle of leadership, but their efforts proved abortive.

The incoming presidential election is another golden opportunity for the opposition party to challenge the ruling party in an election. Olusegun Obasanjo had previously served in the same position for years before leaving the presidential office after spending eight years as the president of the country. As a true member of the opposition party, he can use the knowledge that he has acquired to endorse these two politicians for the party ahead of 2023.

The first politician that Olusegun Obasanjo can consider as the presidential candidate of the party is Musa Kwankwanso from Kano State. Kwankwanso has also served as the governor of Kano State for some years before leaving the office after his tenure has expired. He is one of the most important members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the northern part of the country and the party can make use of him as the main flag bearer of the party.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has already taken over most of the states in the northern part of the country and the opposition party needs to act fast because most of the votes in the country are from the northern part of the country. Kwankwanso's face is not a new one to the people of Kano State and northerners at large. He should be able to challenge the power of the ruling party in the region. Obasanjo can endorse him as the flag bearer of the party towards 2023.

2. Peter Obi

Peter Obi has always been a good partner that the party can rely on because of the role he played in the previous general election in the year 2019 presidential election. He was the running mate of Atiku Abubakar during the electioneering processes, and he performed beyond expectations in the election. Peter Obi is a new politician whenever national elections are mentioned in Nigeria. He should be able to run alongside Musa Kwankwanso in the year 2023 election. Olusegun Obasanjo can endorse Kwankwanso as the president and Peter Obi as the vice-presidential candidate in 2023.
