Britain's most notorious prisoner, 70, is back in court today for the second day of his bid for freedom after 50 years behind bars.

An independent psychologist told the panel, at the Royal Courts Of Justice, he would be less of a risk free than banged up.

She said: "He would be less of a risk in a community environment than a prison environment.

She suggested the “perfect environment would be open conditions”.

Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has issued orders ahead of the governorship and state houses of assembly elections

Baba directed all Commissioners of Police and Strategic Commanders on duty to mobilize all resources at their disposal to defend the electorates.

The IGP also asked them to protect officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, sensitive materials, as well as the electoral process.

The Nasarawa State Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Joseph Ewuga, has stepped down from the race to support his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, David Emmanuel Ombugadu.

SaharaReporters gathered that Ewuga decided to step down in the interest of the growth of the state and the ‘popularity, general acceptance and track record of Ombugadu’.

He, therefore, called on all the Labour Party supporters in the state to support Ombugadu for the governorship election scheduled for Saturday.

Katsina governorship election: Buhari arrives Daura ahead of Saturday’s poll

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday returned to Daura, Katsina State, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Buhari travelled to Daura from Doha, Qatar where he spent the last four days.

A statement by Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu said: “On arrival in Katsina, at 4.50pm, President Buhari was received at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport by Governor Aminu Bello Masari and his cabinet members, and he proceeded to his hometown, Daura, by chopper.
